Robert Ward’s Pulitzer-winning operatic adaptation of The Crucible has achieved both overwhelming critical success and the distinction of becoming one of the most performed operas by an American composer. Set during the 1692 Salem witch trials, The Crucible serves as an allegory for 1950s America’s Red Scare. Bear witness to the havoc, staged by Carroll Freeman and accompanied by the GSU Opera Orchestra under Michael Palmer, as a dangerous love triangle amidst the infamous witch hunt spirals out of control.
