Georgia’s own Johnny Mercer was one of twentieth century America’s most prolific and beloved songwriters. Between 1929 and 1976, Mercer composed more than 1,000 songs, received nineteen Academy Award nominations and cofounded Capitol Records. A pair of modern jazz icons, Atlanta jazz vocalist Kathleen Bertrand and hard bop trumpeter and vocalist Joe Gransden, will pay tribute to Mercer’s incomparable legacy by performing a selection of his many hits.

Special Guest Marilyn Maye

“Joe is a young man with an old soul and a classic voice. He is a great new talent, with a wonderful sense of humor to boot. And don’t forget, he plays a hell of a trumpet!”
